Never tried body-painting? Think again. Chances are, especially if you are a girl, you've used body paint. Chances are, in fact, you might be using it right now.
That's because the most common form of body-paint is what we commonly refer to as make-up.
Think about it: When you use make-up, you are using various pigments to alter your appearance to make you look the way you want. That's body-painting.
Now obviously make-up is a way to express yourself, so its not our place to tell you how to look. However, for those of you unsure as to how to "make up your face," here are some useful tips:
Eyes
- Try to keep your eyebrows within two shades of your hair - any darker will look conspicuous
- Mascara doesn't last more than three months; for best results try not to use it past that
- The skin around the eyes is a lot different than that on the rest of the body - eye cream is the only product that will penetrate the pores
Lips
- Use a lip liner to prevent "lipstick bleeding"
- If wearing red lipstick, understand that it's a commitment - you will probably have to reapply throughout the day to maintain color
- Consider just using lip gloss to enhance your natural lip color
Nails
- Do not shake nail polish it creates bubbles that will lead to poor application
- Hot water softens your nails, so dont file or trim after hot showers and baths
- Always use a base coat with nail polish. Think of it as primer before the main coat.
The Rest
- Concealer should be used sparingly, so as not to cake. Its make-up, not build-up.
- Choose colors that enhance your natural color, especially blushes. Its okay to be daring, but theres can be a fine line between striking and garish
Mostly, remember this: You are already a unique individual, and make-up should be used to enhance this uniqueness. Some people, often young girls using make-up for the first time, have a tendency to go overboard, and then people are noticing your appearance for the wrong reason. If you are unsure how to go about it, never be afraid to ask for advice. That way you can put your best face forward in any situation.
